Started in 1999 by the Feminist Women's Health Center, the Young Women's Leadership Project is a great way for young women from many walks of life and communities to prepare for activism, advocacy, or organizational leadership.
We hope you will join us! You will have an opportunity to develop hands-on skills, including: how to advocate tfor social justice and women's rights, powerful event planning and how to recruit new activists. We want to empower you with volunteer projects, learning experiences, workshops, and the mutual exchange of ideas- so that you can find your own way to protecting and advancing women's health.
These activites serve not only to empower their participants but also to diversify Atlanta's reproductive justice movement. As the Project expands its programming, we also deepened our outreach strategies to educate and empower all young women. In 1992, we sought to expand our current efforts to reach more young African-American women, and in 2005, we responded to a growing Hispanic population within our community and expanded our efforts to reach young Latinas.
After all, since the Project was implemented in 1999, over 1800 young women have graduated from the Project - join us so that you can find your own way to protecting and advancing women's health!
