CHOICE CELEBRATION COMMITTEE MEETING

Date: Tuesday, July 6th, 6-8:30 pm

Join us as we begin planning for our annual Choice Celebration fundraiser! We will need enthusiastic individuals with creative minds to help us decide on a theme, develop a plan and make this event a huge success. In addition, we will provide an interactive event planning training that will give you the leadership skills to prepare for every aspect of planning a fundraiser.

HEALTHY LOVE PARTY

Date: Friday, July 16th,  2-5 pm

Hosted by the Feminist Women’s Health Center and SisterLove Inc. in the Fireplace Lounge in the Alston Student Center at Agnes Scott College (141 East College Avenue, Decatur, 30030).  Come to this informative workshop and become more knowledgeable about protecting yourself against sexually transmitted infections.  There will be a condom demonstration and a discussion on condom negotiation.  We hope participants will practice safer sex and feel more empowered about their sexual health.

“SEX AND CHOCOLATE” PARTY

Date: Wednesday, July 21st, 7-8:30 pm

Join us at the Feminist Women’s Health Center for a sex toy party hosted by Pure Romance!  There will be games, prizes, and giveaways.  We will be serving chocolate bars and chocolate martinis.  Make sure to stop by our volunteer night beforehand!

“WHAT’S RACE GOT TO DO WITH IT?  HEALTH DISPARITIES AND BLACK WOMEN”, A PANEL DISCUSSION

Date: Thursday, July 22nd, 7-8:30 pm

Representatives from SisterSong, SPARK Reproductive Justice Now!, and the CDC will lead a dynamic panel to discuss health disparities among black women on key health issues such as maternal and infant mortality, breast cancer, HIV/AIDS and access to health care. Refreshments provided for a brief meet and greet before the panel discussion.

 

TABLING & STREET TEAMING TRAINING

Learn how to table and street team for reproductive justice, including tips for engaging festival attendees and diffusing potential conflicts. 

FOCUS: REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE ADVOCACY TRAINING

Date: 7/28th 6- 8:30 pm

Get involved in Reproductive Justice! Join us for what will be an exciting and fun evening filled with critical and dynamic conversation, food and laughter. We will cover the history and politics plus some brief skill building work. Empower yourself.  Please RSVP to reserve your seat today.

LATIN AMERICAN SUMER FILM SERIES

Hosted by the Lifting Latina Voices Initiative and held at the Feminist Women's Health Center. Join us for a free movie screening that addresses feminist issues affecting Latin America today! Come meet the staff of LLVI and discover ways to get involved in addressing the serious health reproductive disparities affecting Latina women in Georgia all while enjoying a Latin-American film. We will feature films from Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Cuba, and more. Refreshments will be served. We also provide volunteer babysitters. Sponsored by the Feminist Women’s Health Center.

Drop in for an hour or two; meet others who share your passion, and help us with packet preparation, and many other tasks that are part of advocating for women’s health care.

FEMINIST FILM FORUM – 3rd Thursday of the Month -- Date: Thursday, July 15th, 7-9 pm

Attend a free monthly film series exploring differing perspectives of the portrayal of feminism & sexuality in modern cinema. Includes a brief discussion at the film’s end.  This month we’ll be watching, “The Business of Being Born,” a 2008 documentary that questions the medicalization of pregnancy and childbirth in the United States.

We need your help to educate, engage, mobilize and advocate for an expanded holistic vision of reproductive health and rights.
