Feminist Women’s Health Center

We firmly believe that everyone has the right to choose the outcome of their pregnancy and will support them despite their decision. If you’re still unsure, we can offer you services and therapy to help you get through this time. We will not perform an abortion on a patient who has not made a free and informed decision or someone who is not able to make one. If someone pregnant is confident about their decision, the counselor will go over informed consent, answers questions about the procedure, after-care instructions, and looks at birth control options if it’s necessary. Feminist Women’s Health Center provides pill abortion (non-surgical abortion) to those who are eligible.

Abortion Pill

The “abortion by pill” medication (or non-surgical abortion) involves taking a combination of medications called Mifeprex and misoprostol. This option is available to clients who are in the first trimester of their pregnancy up to 11 weeks. Mifeprex blocks your body’s progesterone hormone that pregnancy needs to grow. You will take the pill at our clinic under our doctor’s supervision.

The second medication, misoprostol, is a prostaglandin that induces uterine contractions and the pregnancy is expelled. The patient normally takes this at home 6-48 hours later. During this time, you will experience cramping and bleeding. After a week passes, the patient is expected to come back to the clinic for a follow-up visit and successfully ensure the pregnancy has ended. The follow-up visit is extremely important, it will include a sonogram and possible additional lab work.

Final costs will be determined at the time of your appointment, which is based on your medical background and needs. Financial Assistance is available. Call (404) 728-7900 or 1(800) 877-6013 to learn more.
