Trauma Survivor Abortion Care

We understand that for people who have experienced trauma and violence, having a gynecological exam or abortion can be challenging. At Feminist Women’s Health Center, our healthcare providers and educators are trained to provide sensitive care that has been specifically designed for survivors of sexual violence. We aim to create a safe space where you will be given as much control as possible over your appointment process, gynecological exam and any other procedure that you come to see us for.

  • Prep: Do not eat or drink anything after midnight before the day of your procedure.

  • Complete paperwork: You can fill out forms ahead of your appointment or complete them at our clinic.

  • Ultrasound exam: You will undergo an ultrasound exam to confirm the length of pregnancy.

  • Lab work: We will perform routine blood tests before the procedure.

  • Private counseling session:  We provide a private counseling session with a trained and compassionate health educator to help patients cope with their trauma and abortion care procedure. We want our patients to have a safe place, to feel informed and ready for the abortion procedure. We will also work with you and law enforcement to arrange for DNA analysis, if needed.
